Warehouse Inventory & Ordering System

A custom inventory and ordering system that managed millions of supply items and tens of thousands of employee orders a year, first launched in the mid-2000s and rebuilt by KMG for speed and ease of use.

The challenge

WPS Health Solutions runs an office supply warehouse that serves its employees. Ordering supplies and tracking warehouse stock needed a dedicated system, one that warehouse admins could manage and any employee could use to order without help.

Our solution

In the mid-2000s KMG built a custom inventory management and ordering system for the WPS warehouse. Employees place supply orders online, and warehouse admins manage stock and fulfill orders in the same system.

After several years in service, KMG redesigned the system:

• A simpler, more user-friendly interface for both admins and employees placing orders
• The aging infrastructure replaced with newer technology, so orders are placed faster

The result

The system grew to manage millions of pieces of inventory and tens of thousands of new orders each year. The redesign made it easier for employees to order and faster for the warehouse to process requests.
